Find Your Strongest Life: What the Happiest and Most Successful Women Do Differently
Today women are better educated, have better jobs, better pay, more choices about mates, careers ... just about everything. But that has not translated into women being happier. Actually with more choices the opposite is true. Womens overall happiness has been on a steady decline since 1972. This decline in happiness occurs across the board, regardless of whether women have children, how many they have, or how much they earn. Marcus Buckingham is a well known researcher. He has written five previous books which centered around the concept that each person will be happiest when they are working from their greatest strength. Find Your Strongest Life got its start from a three hour workshop with Oprah. The workshop was conducted with 30 talented but unfulfilled women. In his mission statement Marcus says, "My mission is to help each person identify her strengths, take them seriously and offer them to the world." As you read the book you will discover facts, read some eye opening research, and see that many women are living a life based on myths more so than truth. Reading the stories of women seeking will help you to see that you are not alone on this journey. |

One area of nearly every development plan for personal and professional growth that can cause the most disruption in the best plans is health. Unplanned illnesses can bring the journey for success to a standstill unless a personal wellness development plan is included for the future. Unfortunately, even the best plans can be waylaid by an unexpected illness and very few illnesses can be planned. However, by using personal wellness development most can be overcome quickly if not avoided. Persons with known health problems should be taking the appropriate steps to insure they are not going to be exacerbated and put an end to all other personal development plans. Working with medical and healthcare professionals should be a part of personal wellness development to include regular check-ups to provide early detection and treatment for potential health-related problems. A personal wellness development plan should be part of an overall development plan for the future and can also reduce stresses placed on work and family life. One thing many people seem to forget is the toll that illness can take on others affected by the lack of personal wellness development. When the bread winner becomes ill and is unable to provide for their family, the burden is shared by all members of the family as well as the company for which they toil. Others will be called upon to perform the tasks at work and other family members will need to step up to help out around the house. Staying Healthy Should Be Everyone's Goal Article to continue below----------------------------------------------
Just as it is rare for a person to walk into work and plan to fail at their job, it is rare that a person will wake up in the morning and hope to become ill. However, simply having a mindset to remain healthy is not considered personal wellness development, taking appropriate steps to prevent future problems can be a plan. One of the main ingredients that many people can use in their personal wellness development is learning how to deal with stress that accompanies nearly every occupation and family circumstance. Nearly every one is going to experience some stress in their life, but a good personal wellness development plan will help them deal with the stress when it happens. While the concept may seem oversimplified, dealing with stress by simply ignoring problems is not the answer, dealing with problems that the person can control and ignoring those they cannot control may be the easiest personal wellness development plan available for reducing stress. Worry over things of which the individual has no control only seems to make them worse and regardless of the amount of stress they cause, will not change the outcome.
