"Understanding Emotional Intelligence in Six Seconds."

Inside Change: Transforming Your Organization with Emotional Intelligence
by Joshua Freedman, Massimiliano Ghini, MBA

Many times the books on leadership focused on systems, management, etc., not taking into account the complex (and powerful!) system of our emotions. Josh Freedman integrate much of the new neuroscience with a comprehensive look and analysis of how people can make successful change by honoring the people involved, integrating emotional intelligence skills, in conjunction with keen business sense.

There is so much to offer in this book, it is like reading an"Operational Manual" in each chapter. This is a must read for those who are looking for ways to change, starting from the inside!

Is There Really a 'Lottery Curse' ? by Anthony Wayne

Lotteries are a multibillion dollar industry that offers players the chance to realize their dreams of sudden and great wealth. Most lottery players equate winning millions with happiness and contentment...

The above video is the results of a team of educators ,versed in an experiential approach to learning that's both joyful and meaningful, wanted to be sure their organization maintained a commitment to distilling big ideas into bite-sized pieces.

The research says it takes around six seconds for those molecules of emotion to get absorbed back into your body after you've had a reaction. For someone to recognize the feeling of compassion -- and it was around six seconds.

Thus, Joshua Freedman's organization was named "Six Seconds"

It takes six seconds to manage anger.
It takes six seconds to create compassion.
It takes six seconds to change the world.

There is science behind the name and the flood that is triggered, delivered, and absorbed in about six seconds of even emotion.

Spending Your National Lottery Millions
Steven Elliott

National Lottery: life-changing or small change. While winning £10 on the National Lottery is great fun, it isn't exactly life-changing. But what would happen if you won a serious amount of money?

Spend, Spend, Spend
When Viv Nicholson won the Pools back in the 1960s, she vowed to 'Spend, Spend, Spend', and she did, blowing all her winnings and ending up back where she started. Are today's Lottery winners more cautious with their cash, and what do they spend it on?

I'd spend my National Lottery winnings on?
The number 1 purchase for UK lottery winners is a new house, closely followed by a new car, fabulous holiday and jewellery. Surprisingly a new pet is the sixth most popular choice (does this include race horses, we wonder), and equally surprising, purchasing farm land comes in at number 9.

Home, James!
The most popular car purchased by National lottery winners is not a fancy fast racer, but the drive anywhere range from Land Rover and Range Rover. In second place are the ever-popular BMWs, with the patriotic Jaguars in third place. In fact, in the top ten, there's not a fancy fast cast to be seen, and the humble Ford Fiesta makes it into fourth place!

Top up that Tan
UK lottery winners' favourite place is the sun is the USA, followed by Spain and the Caribbean. Surprisingly, ex-pat sun haven Cyprus makes it to number 6 on the list, head of Australia and the Far East.

National Lottery winners: A generous lot
One in four Lottery jackpot winners give away over 30% of their winnings, and 98% of winners say they are as happy or happier since claiming their prize money. One in seven jackpot winners give away over £1 million to family of friends, and over the last ten years have created an additional 728 extra millionaires through their generosity!

National Lottery lucky places: And lucky escapes
In August 2006, the UK National Lottery Luck Survey revealed that Brighton residents feel the luckiest in Britain, perhaps because the biggest ever Lottery win went to two Brighton lads! Runners up were the good folk of Liverpool and Reading, where over 80% of those questioned considered themselves lucky.

Lucky Jobs
If you want to win the UK lottery, then the best job to have is being a builder. They top the Top 10 Lucky Job charts for 2006, with machine operators in second place, and office workers in third place. Managers only manage to scrap eighth place, just below shop workers.

Lucky Escapes
Once you've bought your ticket, and you've won, it seems you need some luck to hang on to it!
One lucky chap had his ticket rescued from his trouser pocket by his girlfriend just before she put them into the washing machine. Her eagle eyes saved him a cool £1.5 million win! If three lads had not been refused entry to a nightclub one night, they would have never shopped at their 24 hour local supermarket for new shirts and ties, and never bought the scratch card that scooped them over £20,000.

Luck breeds Luck?
It appears so on the national lottery. One fortunate winner popped into his local car showroom after collecting his prize money to eye up a new car. While he was there he entered a competition to win his favourite motor, and won the car!

Not so Lucky
Pity poor Martyn and Kay Tott from Watford, who discovered that they had won £3,011,065 on the lottery just before the prize money claim deadline was about to expire in 2001. The problem was, they couldn't find their ticket. The couple always played the same numbers, but without the actual ticket, the national lottery couldn't pay them the prize money. Next time, no doubt, they'll take out a subscription

Lucky Bird?
Red kites have been rescued from the brink of extinction in several UK locations, where the birds have successfully bred and built nests. Kites build nests from anything they think suitable, and one nest was discovered to contain an intact National Lottery ticket. Unfortunately for the kite, it wasn't a winning ticket!
