"Understanding Emotional Intelligence in Six Seconds."

Inside Change: Transforming Your Organization with Emotional Intelligence
by Joshua Freedman, Massimiliano Ghini, MBA

Many times the books on leadership focused on systems, management, etc., not taking into account the complex (and powerful!) system of our emotions. Josh Freedman integrate much of the new neuroscience with a comprehensive look and analysis of how people can make successful change by honoring the people involved, integrating emotional intelligence skills, in conjunction with keen business sense.

There is so much to offer in this book, it is like reading an"Operational Manual" in each chapter. This is a must read for those who are looking for ways to change, starting from the inside!

Lottery Winnings Investment Tips and Strategies

There is no doubt jackpot lottery winnings can transform a person's life. Many people daydream about the day their lottery ship will arrive and how they will travel the world, buy a mansion, and drive fancy cars while never having to worry about money again.

Lottery officials say a Powerball ticket sold in La Crosse County this week is worth $1 million before taxes.

The biggest problem with jackpot lottery winnings is the majority of winners are broke within two years. Instead of wisely investing their windfall, lottery jackpot recipients embark on mega spending sprees, thinking they can never spend a mountain of money in their lifetime.

Another prevalent problem with lottery winnings is taxation. Since lottery winnings are taxed at state and federal levels, taxes could be as high as 50-percent of the total amount won. Individuals who elect a lump sum payout receive substantially less money than those who choose payment via annual installments.

Winners of Powerball and mega million lottery jackpots can elect to be compensated through structured settlement annuities. Annuity payments are backed by life insurance companies and generally extend for 20 years. Since payments are received in increments, the funds are typically taxed at a lower tax rate.

Lottery winners who choose to receive winnings in a lump sum cash payout receive around 65-percent of total winnings. For instance, a person who wins $1 million Powerball jackpot would receive around $650,000. Taxes would be assessed on the full million, making the final payout around $325,000.

Lottery winners who choose to receive annuity payments would receive around $40,000 per year for 20 years. Depending on their tax rate, they would net between $25,000 and $32,000 annually. Their after-tax payout would range between $500,000 and $750,000. Actual lottery payments vary depending on the winner's personal tax status and state lottery regulations.

When lottery jackpot winners invest their winnings they have the potential to double, triple or even quadruple funds. Many investment opportunities exist including buying real estate, stocks and bonds, or cash flow notes. If you have dreamed about starting a business, lottery winnings can be used to build a solid foundation.

Regardless of whether lottery winnings are paid in a lump sum or through annuity payments, it is a smart financial decision to contribute at least 10-percent to a high yield savings or money market account or invest in certificates of deposit and savings bonds.

Lottery jackpots can provide financial freedom for the rest of your life. However, in order to maintain financial freedom, lottery winners must carefully plan investment strategies that can minimize tax consequences and maximize monetary payouts. Lottery winners should organize a team of financial advisors including a financial planner, lawyer and tax accountant or CPA.

Multiple investment options exist to help individuals capitalize lottery winnings. While it is easy to go on a mega-spending spree, it is much smarter to develop a strong investment portfolio and live off the residual income provided through interest-bearing accounts. Don't become a lottery statistic. Learn how to become a smart investor and allow your money to work for you!
